four words to describe him: colorful, quiet, peaceful, friendly
three things about him that make him unique:
- Although maybe not his best talent, Jude's favorite talent of his is that he can touch his tongue to his nose, and takes every possible chance to show people this talent
- Jude goes to every extent possible to get the people he cares for to smile, even if he's emotionally- or on the rare occasions, physically- damaged in the process. His loved ones are more important than him, in his opinion
- He was named after a Beatles song, the Beatles coincidentally being his favorite band
favorite book: 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold
his best memory: Jude doesn't have one best memory, but two. The one that came first was learning the first song on his guitar- Here Comes The Sun, by the Beatles- with his dad. The second best memory would be the first time he filled up a notebook each page front and bak, notes scribbled in the margins. Even the cover and back page were decorated with words.
his worst memory: Hands down, Jude's worst memory is the day of his father's funeral. Speaking his eulogy ended up being one of the hardest things he'd ever done and he'd cried the whole way through it.
share five details about him that give us an idea of where he came from:
- His parents were seperated since he was a little kid, although they lived fairly close to each other to make switching Jude back and forth easier, although sometimes he went on the road with his father on extended road trips, being away for months at a time.
- He mostly grew up in a suburb just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.
- His mother had a cat when he was growing up named Apollo, who Jude hated with a passion. He much preferred his father's dog, Quinn, who, as a young child, Jude always blamed bad things he did on
- Jude was desensitized to a lot of bad things in the world at a very young age. He was familiar with the act of sex by age seven, knew his seuality by his early teens, and lost his virginity, something he highly regrets, by age sixteen. He blames this all on living with Vegas, because he doesn't want to admit that he learned most of it from his dad.
- His parents were both ex-hippies, his mother moving on from the movement to become a nurse and his father keeping up with the bohemian rocker lifestyle until the day he died.
back story:
It's probably wise to start in the beginning, back before the idea of having a child was even thought of. Let's take it to 1986, at a Beatles tribute concert.
That's where everything began.
At that Beatles tribute concert, listening to some faux-accented men butcher the song 'Hey Jude', Merideth McLain and George Carlow met, and like so many young couples, just out of high school, they fell in love. They had a quick marriage only wees after they met, married by John Lennon himself- of course, this John Lennon was in a cheap chapel in Las Vegas and had no accent to be heard. Of course it would never work out.
George wanted to travel, wanted to see the world. Merideth, she wanted to make George happy. So they bought a motor home and went from city to city, concert to concert, just living life as it came. Sex, drugs, alcohol, rock and roll. That was their lifestyle. It was inevitable that Merideth got pregnant, in late 1987, only about a year after their marriage.
George, he definitely was not happy with this when he found out. There was a lot of screaming, fighting, and poof. His wife was gone, back to live with her parents in Vegas.
Merideth, she was crushed. At this point, three months pregnant, jobless, on a bus to Las Vegas. She knew from this point on, she needed to get herself back on the right track. Get herself a good job, provide for herself and he unborn child.
She lived with her parents for a short time before getting herself a job at a music store, an apartment, and saving up her money to start college after she was stable. Months passed, and the miracle of life happened and out came Jude Jonathan Carlow, then Mclain. He only took his dad's last name when he was a teenager.
Dad. Enter him, a few months after Jude's birth. He and Merideth reconciled, although they stayed seperated. but they kept joint custody of little Jude. Time passed. Jude grew up, his mother keeping him doing good in school as she went for her nursing degree, his father keeping him down to earth with teaching him how to play music, what was good music and right from wrong. And all the other things he taught him that he didn't realize that he was teachin the impressionable child.
Like which cigarettes and beers were best, what condoms should be used during sex, how to light a bong properly. Luckily, his mother had taught him well enough that he knew these things were bad.
Around twelve, thirteen, he had an epiphony. He decided that he didn't like girls. He liked boys. His dad, he was all for it, but his mother... It took her a while to accept it, although she eventually did. She was really upset that "she wasn't going to get any grandkids".
Jude kept up with his schoolwork, keeping up with a high B, low A average and getting himself into a good college while trying to baance a social and love life too. Now he'd on his own, freshly moved to aspire at the ripe age of nineteen, ready to live in the world.
